Minibeast hunting

On June 20, 2017June 21, 2017 By naomimIn 30dayswildLeave a comment

It's so hot! I'm swapping between loving the sunshine and feeling completely exhausted by it. In this weather I don't want to do much after work so I spent most of the evening in the garden. Once I started to focus there was so much to see. I have a little macro lens for my …

Sowing seeds for bees

On June 19, 2017 By naomimIn 30dayswild1 Comment

A simple random act of wildness today, sowing seeds for bees. Charity Buglife say that over 97% of all flower rich grasslands have been lost in England since the 1930s, an area the size of Wales. This has reduced pollen and nectar sources and lead to a serious decline in the wildlife depending on …

Enjoying the wildness of the garden

On June 13, 2017June 13, 2017 By naomimIn 30dayswild, Uncategorized7 Comments

My very favourite spot for a random moment of wildness is my own garden. We moved into a new build property five years ago, the garden completely bare, and in that time we’ve made it into a mini wildlife haven. We put in a pond, a tree, bushes and shrubs, lots of plants for …

Sunday Sevens May 7th 2017

I've not blogged in a little while, but have lots to share! Over the last month I've prepared for and then spent a wonderful two and a bit weeks away exploring Scotland. Lots more on that to come, once I've sorted all the pictures.  I've had a horrible cold this week, so weekdays involved only …

#Photoanhour Saturday 18th March 2017

On March 22, 2017March 22, 2017 By naomimIn sunday sevens7 Comments

This weekend was time for #photoanhour day for March. I started my day at 8am with a quiet cup of coffee and a flick through my favourite magazine. 9am: breakfast time! Planning our day, we were off to the zoo! 10am: on our way, driving along the M4. 11am: we’d arrived at Paradise Wildife Park …

Sunday Sevens March 19th 2017

On March 19, 2017March 19, 2017 By naomimIn sunday sevens5 Comments

Sunday evening, telly on, time to look back at the week with Sunday Sevens. It's been a fairly quiet week, here's what I've been up to.  I'm trying to vary our meals at the moment, it's so easy just to repeat the same familiar recipes. This week I've tried out two new meals, and they …

Sunday Sevens March 12th 2017

On March 12, 2017March 12, 2017 By naomimIn sunday sevens6 Comments

It's been a changeable week, one day sunny, the next grey and cooler. It's definitely begun to feel like spring is here. On a walk on Thursday lunchtime, I saw my first brimstone and small tortoiseshell butterflies of the year. My heart lifted to see them flutter by.  The lighter days and longer evenings have …

Ditch the plastic is the theme for today’s #splodzdpc Here’s our things all ready for a winter day out- flask full of hot water to avoid single use cups, water bottle ready for a walk and a picnic basket to fill with snacks. #plasticfree #getoutside
Today has been gorgeous, warm enough to walk in a t-shirt under cerulean blue skies. We’ve wandered, laughed, chatted and noticed all the little details in the world around us. It is so quiet here, not an engine to be heard, instead the soundscape is full of woodpeckers drumming, buzzards mewing, great tits shouting, the wind rattling the trees, autumn leaves crunching under our feet, it is blissful. Inspired by @silverpebble2 I collected tiny nature finds as we went and have made a wreath to remember the first day this year that it’s really felt like Spring. Most of these little finds were from a walk from our holiday cottage, through the woods and across the fields of the Ebworth Centre. The Roman snail shell I found this morning, walking close to Chedworth Roman Villa- thee snails were introduced by the Romans as a food and they are still around today, long after the Romans have gone. 🐌 #makingwinter #naturefinds #natureflatlays #foundonawalk #thewildremedy #februarybeauty #thelittlethings #thingsthatmakemesmile
What an utterly glorious day, it feels like Spring has arrived. Skylarks are singing in the fields under a bright blue sky and in the woods chaffinch, great tits, blue tits and robin sing. It’s joyful. #springishere #getoutside #onehouroutside #blueskies #perfectday #staywild #cotswolds #thisbeauty
What a beautiful day it turned out to be. The Cotswold Stone glowed in as we explored, sun warm on our faces once it broke through the mist. The Mill and cottages in Lower Slaughter were just gorgeous. #visitcotswolds #getoutside #lateafternoon #reflections #thisprettyengland #cotswoldvillage
Love is the theme of today’s #splodzdpc suitable for Valentine’s day. I’ve made this happy little needle felted mouse as a valentine’s gift, complete with love heart 💓 #needlefelting #love #valentinesgift #givelove
Foggy this morning, beautifully atmospheric at the holiday cottage, the old farm buildings of the Ebworth centre are lovely, in warm Cotswold stone. Our cottage is the old Tack Room. #nationaltrust #foggymorning #misty #wintermorning
